Description
Sn4979 Superb Adams style inlaid desk of generous proportions, having black leather writing surface to figured mahogany and string inlaid top above three frieze drawers with reeded fronts, central also being inlaid with harebell panel, bow fronted pedestals enclose cockbeaded, string inlaid drawers, three to the left hand side and two to the right hand side, all mahogany lined and fitted with original brass handles, flanked by satinwood inlaid paterae and harebells. The sides have a reeded frieze enclosing leather sliders with original brass handles above figured mahogany inlaid and crossbanded panels flanked by further inlays. The reeded frieze follows to the back which is also inlaid with satinwood paterae, harebells and geometrical motifs, standing on tapered, satinwood inlaid legs terminating in original brass castors. This antique writing table has been syamthetically restored and is in home ready condition. c1890
