Description
Superb quality and very attractive Regency, mahogany longcase clock attributed to Gillows, having painted dial inscribed W. Preston, Lancaster, with Roman numeral and original hands with inset marcasite, seconds and date subsidiary chapters, 8-day movement striking on the bell, all in arched hood with sawn neck pediment, flanked by elegant reeded columns, the case having flamed mahogany, satinwood string inlaid, crossbanded and cockbeaded door enclosing original pendulum and weights, flanked by quarter reeded columns terminating in flamed mahogany base and shaped feet. This fine grandfather clock retains its original finish, colour and patina. c1810
The movement has been cleaned and serviced by a horologist and it is guaranteed for 12 months (UK mainland).
