Sn4911 Fine quality George III mahogany sideboard of serpentine design, having figured mahogany top with satinwood stringing and satinwood crossbanded edge above deep centre drawer inlaid with neoclassical motifs flanked by two deep concave drawers with satinwood inlaid edges, all fitted with original brass knobs, standing on six satinwood string inlaid legs. This antique sideboard has been inlaid and retailed by Edwards and Roberts. The sideboard retains its wonderful antique character and patina, all in excellent home ready condition. c1800

Edwards & Roberts were founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.
