Fine quality Georgian grandfather clock, having arched, silvered dial signed by Robert Wood, London with rocking ship automaton set in the painted estuary, seconds and date subsidiary chapters, steel hands, 8-day movement striking on a bell, enclosed in pagoda top hood with brass fretwork panel flanked by brass finials and fluted Doric columns with brass capitols, above flamed mahogany door enclosing original brass pendulum and weights, flanked by quarter columns terminating in panelled base and shaped apron. This stunning longcase clock retains its original finish and patina. c1795
Robert Wood, better known for his bracket clocks, was the son of Robert Wood and was working from 1789 until at least 1811 in Finsbury Square.
The movement has been cleaned and serviced by a horologist and it is guaranteed for 12 months (UK mainland).
