R05 Impressive Edwards & Roberts walnut table, having figured top with moulded and ebonised edge above two panelled frieze drawers fitted with original ebonised knobs, all standing on substantial, carved legs with diamond shaped decoration terminating in shaped feet, all united by shaped undertier with ebonised edge. This antique table is polished to each side enabling free standing. All in excellent home ready condition. Stamped Edwards & Roberts. c1870

Edwards & Roberts were founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.
